Peer support group program

Willow Center provides FREE support groups to children, teens, and their adult caregivers who have experienced the death of someone close.

Peer support groups are coordinated by behavioral health professionals and trained volunteers to promote the expression of grief and loss, the understanding of death, loss and the process of grief, and to decrease feelings of isolation associated with grief. Willow Center is the only children’s bereavement program in the region.

Our groups are held in Lewiston, ID. The Lewiston groups meet the first and third Tuesday of every month for an hour and a half. Groups are delineated by age:

  • Pre-school group
  • Primary group
  • Intermediate Group
  • Early Teen Group
  • Teen Group
  • Adult Caregivers/Parent Group

This is a family focused program with the belief that to truly assist the children and teens in their process of grief, we need to engage the family/caregivers in a supportive way to build healthier coping, communication and connections for the whole family.  We provide a confidential, safe place for children, teens and their adult caregivers to tell their stories, explore their feelings, and learn healthy ways of coping.

To attend one of our groups call the Willow Center office to schedule an intake appointment: (208) 791-7192; or you may email the center: [email protected].
